Keystone Ave is the worst at rush hour. Yet every day I make commute, twice a day. Usually I embrace the drive and just find something to listen to on the radio to take my mind off the slow creep of traffic. However, Monday I was in a hurry to get to my apartment, change clothes and leave again to make it to class on time. Thankfully I know a back way, down a side street that runs parallel to Keystone that would get me home quicker...and apparently, I am not the only person who knows about this shortcut.
As soon as I made the decision to turn off the main street onto the side street, it occurred to me that many other people were doing it too, causing my shortcut to be even more congested than Keystone. With the main road still in sight, I could see all the other cars that were behind me, now moving through traffic more quickly than I was. I quickly became irritated and felt God telling me “stop trying to control how quickly you arrive at your destination.”
Sometimes taking a shortcut isn’t the solution to getting to your destination faster. Stay on the course that is laid out for you and be patient. When you allow God to direct the flow of your life, you will arrive at your destination at the appointed time. In the meantime, enjoy the journey.
Thank you for joining me on my journey to Finding Grace.
